Jeong You-Jeong’s novel, Seven Years of Darkness🌙, has been translated and published into twelve different languages.

🇨🇿Translated by Petra Ben-Ari, the Czech translation of Seven Years of Darkness was published with the assistance of an LTI Korea grant this year, making a total of twelve translations.

At the Digital Library of Korean Literature, you can find the e-book of Seven Years of Darkness in ten of the twelve different translations, including English, Chinese, Russian, French, and Vietnamese.

Seven Years of Darkness digs up the truth behind “The Seryong Lake Incident” that occurred at a lighthouse village, revealing the dark side of human nature.

Can you guess how many languages Kim Ae-ran’s novel, My Brilliant Life, has been translated into?✒️

The Polish translation of My Brilliant Life, translated by Lukasz Janik, was published through an LTI Korea grant in 2022, making a total of 10 translations.🥳

The novel has been previously translated into nine different languages: English, German, Russian, French, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Taiwanese Mandarin.👏

My Brilliant Life is about a young couple raising their son who suffers from progeria.  
The novel was made into a movie with the same title and released in 2014.

Korean literature is gaining international recognition.🌈

On Friday, June 3, LTI Korea signed a memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Cámara Colombiana del Libro and Fundación Cultural Asia-Iberoamérica. The memorandum aims to foster greater collaboration in literature and exchanges of writers between the two countries. 👏

The memorandum was signed as a follow-up to the Bogota International Book Fair, where South Korea participated as the guest of honor in April, and as a way of celebrating the opening of the 2022 Seoul International Book Fair this month. 

The scope of cooperation includes: forming partnerships among the three organizations; promoting Korean and Colombian literature together; encouraging the translation and publication of the two countries’ literature; and inviting writers, publishers, and literary delegates from the other country.

LTI Korea expects this memorandum to bring about a great turning point in Korean literature as K-literature Hallyu is rapidly gaining a foothold on a global stage.
