18th Night Course at the Translation Academy
The Translation Academy of the Literature Translation Institute of Korea invites applications for its 18th Night Course. We warmly encourage all interested and eligible individuals to apply.
☐ Overview
ㅇ Languages Offered: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese
ㅇ Eligibility: Open to individuals with strong translation skills and a passion for Korean literature and culture. No restrictions on nationality, educational background, age, or place of residence.
ㅇ Course Outline
Content | - Translation workshops (Korean → target language) with peer reviews and discussion - Collaborative translation sessions with authors or literary experts (once per term) |

Schedule | 1 class per week (weekdays 19:00∼21:00 KST) * Detailed timetables will be provided before the start of each term. |

☐ Selection Process and Evaluation Criteria

Document screening | The following will be evaluated based on the applicant's application form and self-introduction letter - Interest and ability in translation (50 points) -Interest and literacy in Korean literature and/or cultural content (50 points) |
Written test | Korean language proficiency and literary knowledge required to interpret the provided text and translation ability into the target language will be evaluated against the following standards - Understanding of work (30 points) - Faithfulness to original (30 points) - Translation completeness (40 points) |
Interview | Korean language proficiency and literary knowledge required to interpret the provided text and translation ability into the target language will be evaluated against the following standards -Evaluation of language skills required for translation (30 points) -Evaluation of the overall understanding, interest, and cultural literacy of the literature and cultural content of Korea and the target language group (40 points) -Evaluation of the willingness and intent to consistently participate in the program (30 points) |
* Special Course refers to the 1st–6th classes (2008–2013) and the 12th class (2019, 1st-year program).
** Classes with fewer than 3 participants may be subject to cancellation.

ㅇ Applicants cannot apply for the Translation Atelier at the same time.
ㅇ Individuals currently enrolled in other Translation Academy courses are not eligible to apply.
