Call for Applications for the 2026 Korean Literary Research and Academic Exchange Grant (1st Round)
The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) is accepting applications for the Korean Literary Research and Academic Exchange Grant to strengthen the academic foundation of Korean literature as world literature.
□ Program Objective
ㅇ To strengthen the academic foundation of Korean literature as world literature by supporting activities that promote critical discussions and scholarly engagement with Korean literature.
□ Eligible Applicants
ㅇ Organizations and individuals seeking to publish foreign-language articles in overseas periodicals, to publish monographs, to organize academic events for international exchange and discussion, or to collect research materials on Korean literature.

※ Examples of eligible applicants include: academic researchers, critics, writers, translators, universities, publishers, literary organizations, and freelancers.

※ Applicants must not receive duplicate funding for the same project from other institutions. If partial external support or applicant co-funding exists, only the unfunded portions may be included in the budget request. ※ Projects completed before the results announcement date are not eligible. ※ Applicants who remain under sanctions in accordance with Articles 19 (Suspension of Payment of Project Funds) and 20 (Exclusion from Selection of Persons Eligible to Receive Science Support) of the Sciences Promotion Act as of the application deadline are not eligible. |

ㅇ Documents submitted will not be returned.
ㅇ All supported projects must be in the form of publicly accessible outputs or public events. Acknowledgment of LTI Korea’s support must be included in the final publication. While the intellectual
property rights of the work remain with the author (translator) or publishing institution, LTI Korea may use the work for promotional purposes (including reproduction, editing, and distribution) within the scope of achieving its institutional objectives, subject to prior consultation.
ㅇ Applicants who are not selected may reapply once for the same project category, regardless of the application period. Applicants may apply for only one category per round. If selected in a given
round, the applicant is not eligible to apply for the same category in the immediate subsequent round. (Example: An applicant selected in the first round under the Authorship and Translation category
may not apply for the same category in the second round.)
ㅇ Applicants are responsible for resolving any legal issues related to copyright, intellectual property rights, or usage rights that arise during the project. LTI Korea bears no responsibility for any disputes.
ㅇ If applicants are found to be ineligible or have provided false or misleading information, they may be disqualified from selection or have their grant revoked.
ㅇ LTI Korea may request supplementary materials or modifications to the project plan, and reserves the right to withdraw support if necessary.
ㅇ Applicants must allocate their budget according to the approved budget categories. Expenses falling outside eligible budget items will not be covered by the grant.
ㅇ In the event of unavoidable changes to the project, delays in reporting, or withdrawal of support, applicants must notify LTI Korea in advance, and submit relevant documents. Any project adjustments must be made in consultation with LTI Korea.
ㅇ If the final report is not submitted within 60 days of project completion without prior consultation, LTI Korea may reduce the grant amount accordingly. If the actual expenses incurred (excluding the applicant’s own contribution) are lower than the total grant amount, the grant will be adjusted and disbursed based on actual costs.
