Update on the 2027 Translation Academy Program in Preparation for the Opening of the LTI Korea Graduate School of Translation

For the past 19 years, LTI Korea has operated the Translation Academy, offering a dedicated curriculum to train professional translators of Korean literature. Building on the achievements and experience accumulated over nearly two decades, we are now preparing for a new phase aimed at establishing a more specialized and systematic learning environment.

To this end, LTI Korea is moving forward with plans to open the Graduate School of Translation (tentative name) in September 2027 as an accredited institution under the Higher Education Act. In connection with this transition, we would like to inform you that the operational and admissions schedules for the current Translation Academy programs will be adjusted in phases as follows.

1. Translation Academy Program Operations and Admissions

To facilitate a seamless transition to the Master’s degree program, the Translation Academy will adjust its operations as follows:

ㅇ Regular Course

- Program End Date: June 2027 (tentative)

* The program will conclude with the graduation of the current cohort (18th class). No new students will be admitted in 2026.

ㅇ Night Course and Translation Atelier

- Scheduled to continue through 2027 (tentative)

2. Launch of the LTI Korea Graduate School of Translation

The LTI Korea Graduate School of Translation will carry forward the Translation Academy’s educational experience and offer a formal master’s degree program with a more structured and specialized curriculum.

ㅇ Admissions Announcement: To be announced in the first half of 2027 (tentative)

We sincerely appreciate your continued interest in and support for the Translation Academy, and kindly ask for your ongoing encouragement as we prepare to open the Graduate School of Translation. We hope the new institution will establish itself as a leading center for training global literary translators and advancing the international reach of Korean literature.
